Call for Applications: Fully Funded Two-Year LLM in Law of the Sea at UiT-The Arctic University of Tromsø
The Ocean Governance, Research, and Development Project (OGP), in partnership with UiT-The Arctic University of Tromsø, is excited to announce the NORSTIP 2025 fully funded Master’s degree program in Law of the Sea (LLM). We invite talented and eligible students to apply for this transformative two-year program at one of Norway’s most esteemed institutions.
About NORSTIP 2025
The NORSTIP offers exceptional students the chance to pursue advanced studies while enabling them to contribute to the development of their home countries. For the 2025-2027 period, NORSTIP stipends will cover:
• Full tuition fees
• Living expenses for the entire two-year program
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be 28 years or younger at the program’s start (born on or after August 13, 1997)
- Hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized university
Application Process
Interested candidates should submit:
- CV/ Resume
- Two letters of recommendation
- Two copies of academic certificates and transcripts
- A motivation letter (600–1000 words) explaining how the LLM in Law of the Sea at UiT aligns with their goals and contributes to their home country’s development
- A declaration of any family or close relationships with individuals involved in the selection process
Deadline: All documents must be submitted by March 13, 2025
Final Selection by UiT
Candidates selected by the project will undergo a final selection process at UiT. The university will evaluate applicants based on:
- Academic excellence (demonstrated through previous achievements)
- A commitment to contributing to their home country’s development after graduation
- Adherence to gender balance and diversity goals (at least 50% female nominees)
- Full compliance with the NORSTIP program rules
UiT will announce the final list of NORSTIP LLM recipients by May 31, 2025 (tentative).
